Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, May 17, officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department were called to the 1300 block of Iverson Street in Oxon Hill, where a woman advised that she had been robbed of her SUV at gunpoint by two boys.

Less than an hour later, the stolen SUV was spotted near Naylor Road and Suitland Parkway, and when officers attempted to stop them, a 15-year-old driver sped away and a police pursuit was launched, though it quickly ended and two teens bailed.

Police say that a 17-year-old passenger was arrested near the SUV, and a search involving a police helicopter, K9 units, and detectives led to the apprehension of the driver, who was hiding in the woods.

Both are being charged with armed carjacking.

The 15-year-old driver was taken to a juvenile detention center, while the 17-year-old was placed in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
